The Spring of Deception

The weather has been beautiful, but we've had a blast of cold air bringing a huge amount of rain to Ballarat the last couple of days. Every year people joke about the seasons in Australia, this meme is in circulation again. As we're in an El Niño year; while this rainfall is welcome, the drier weather is likely to increase the fire risk later in the season.
The boys arrived back from Japan with a lurgy; they've very kindly passed it onto me. I had a disco nap today, Murphy is very happy keeping me company. I'm tucked back up in bed with emergency Minstrels and a Dr Pepper.
A meme: Seasons in Australia Explained. A list of words "Winter; Fool's Spring; Second Winter; Spring of Deception; The Swoopening; The Pollening; Actual Spring; Summer; Hell; False Autumn; Actual Autumn" There is an arrow marker 'You are here' by the Spring of Deception
The last week of the school holidays were fun (before the lurgy bloomed). Mr A caught up with a friend while I went for a walk with their Mum and their dog. I had a day in Melbourne catching up with two friends I used to work with (more in a minute).
Yesterday, I took Mr A and two friends to the movies. The Husband was facilitating a huge meting at work and needed the house to be quiet, checking what was on at that time, we all piled over to the cinema and watched Coyote vs. Acme.
Considering it was not to be released and was ear-marked as a tax write-off, it was a solid 8 of 10. I laughed more than the boys did because I grew up on Warner Bros. cartoons - I've still got a Tasmanian Devil figurine in my bedroom. Watching John Cena going head to head with Tweety 'I tawt I saw' was great fun, I do love how Cena commits to a bit wherever and whatever he's doing.
One easter egg nearly made me fall off my chair. Granny is explaining a plot point with some Basil Exposition. Demonstrating an anti-predator spray, she squirts the aerosol and Pepé Le Pew coughs and falls off a table.
Maybe ACME could market that spray now, with an air-horn as the carrier for the spray??

Sorry I was late, I saw a dog

On Tuesday, I was heading down to Melbourne to meet up with a couple of friends. On the Sunday on a call with one of them, we worked out what trains I needed to get as we were going to watch Practical Magic 2 in the afternoon of Tuesday while we waited for our other friend to finish work.
I've never watched Practical Magic, I've never wanted to, which meant I needed to watch it before we caught up. I borrowed it from Amazon, took one for the team, and watched it. Still a bit non-plussed by it but was ready for round 2.
On Tuesday morning, I couldn't find my RFID wallet. After a mild panic, scrabbling through all the bags I'd used over the past few days, I went back to my bag, emptied the bluddy thing completely and found it. It had fallen into a pocket of my bag organiser, they're both grey, I'd missed in my haste.
I whizzed off to the station, nowhere to park. So I parked nearby, took a photo of where it was in case I forgot and also to confirm there were no parking restrictions. Puffed up to the station and realised I'd left my coffee and breakfast shake behind.
I brought another breakfast at Southern Cross station, checked the app for the next train to where I was going, got to the platform and the train came in. Yay! I only had to change trains to a different line.
Guess what? I met a dog and missed the station.
Henry, a beautiful white and brown pit bull with green eyes
Henry, I mean - who wouldn't be distracted by that love bug?
I texted my friend, then got off at the next station ready to double-back. She texted me to say she'd come and get me.
I sat in the sun and waited, checking my emails I was getting alerts from asking if I'd rented Practical Magic. Are you sure it was you? Yes. But are you sure you're sure? Yes.
While we were navigating traffic; we got caught at every red light, then in a tail-back for an accident, we got a text from our other friend saying she was able to meet earlier than we'd planned - yay!
We had a great catch-up, but I needn't have subjected myself to Practical Magic after all.
If you're quick, you could be one the last 10 people to get my Christmas Journal at $15. It's going back up to $25, imminently 🎁
Head over to the shop and I'll see you next week.
